The Wheat Free Woman was diagnosed with a wheat allergy thirty years ago.  Then there was very little information available about living wheat and gluten free.  Through research and experimentation, she adapted old recipes and developed new ones.

“I was fortunate that my mother was a home economics teacher so I knew how to cook.  I had also been a great experimenter with recipes as a small child.  I love good food and these skills have proved invaluable in helping me make wheat and gluten free food that doesn’t compromise on taste and quality.”

The Wheat Free Woman started how2bglutenfree.com as she believes that the more information and recipe ideas we can share about living wheat and gluten free, the simpler we can make it for everyone to make good quality, tasty gluten free food whether for themselves or for family and friends who need gluten free.

Here at how2bglutenfree.com we want delicious food with no compromises. We hate the feeling of being different and fussy that having to request gluten free food can sometimes entail.  Therefore we want to make it easy to make gluten free food everyone can enjoy.

You may notice quite a few cake recipes on our site.

This is because we like our cakes at how2bglutenfree.com.

Adapting cake recipes to be wheat and gluten free was something the Wheat Free Woman did early on after being diagnosed.

“Being brought up in Scotland with its liking for afternoon teas, the thought that I would no longer be able to have cake was more than my sweet tooth could bear. So I started adapting and developing my own recipes and I haven’t stopped since.”

She is clearly skilled at developing great tasting gluten free recipes since her Gluten Free Brownies won a national UK Great Taste Award. They are made with rich dark chocolate and succulent cherries, great with your coffee or warmed up as a gluten free dessert served with cream.
